ESDIN is targeting INSPIRE
This is the first blog entry for the ESDIN work in progress blog. My role in ESDIN is to see together with project co-ordinator Stephen Evans that work is progressing and we will achieve the goals of the project. ESDIN is targeting to implement the INSPIRE specifications in majority of Annex I themes in large and small scales. Our goal is to develop INSPIRE compliant specifications that will be really bringing INSPIRE to different level from something more than just a collection of various datasets in different quality. This means that we have to also harmonize data not only make it available. This requires agreements on quality, generalization, edge-matching and common data policy.
ESDIN project is now reaching one year celebration in September. Work has now started in all WPs and we have had various meetings with user community in order to find out what users really want. This has actually turned out to be really challenging.
We have also been busy commenting INSPIRE specifications and organizing information for NMCAs about the specs. One of important activity has been participating to the testing of INSPIRE specs version 1.0. We are now considering organizing a seminar together with JRC and EuroSDR on the results in autumn.
Anyway this blog is used to inform the work on going in the project. It is not intended to be formal. So also difficulties in the work should be covered. The WP leaders and other people in the project will be invited to have they say and share their thoughts with you. And what is important we are looking for feedback as well.
